New Delhi – During the 2nd wave of corona virus, cases of children getting infected with corona have increased in many places in the country, so the demand for corona vaccine for children is also increasing. Keeping this demand in mind, the country’s Drug Regulator Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the second and third phase clinical trials on children of Covaxin, a fully developed Corona vaccine in the country.
Bharat Biotech International Ltd, the company producing Covaxin in the country, has been approved for the second and third phase of clinical trials, the expert committee on the matter suggested the trial which DCGI has accepted and 2 Trial of this vaccine has been approved for 18-year-old children. This trial will be done on 525 healthy children across the country. The children will be given 2 doses of vaccine for the trial, the second dose will be given on the 28th day after the first dose.
Drugs Controller General of India is the head of department of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization of the Government of India responsible for approval of licenses of specified categories of drugs such as blood and blood products, IV fluids, vaccines, and sera in India.
