Tomatos Rate Under Control Now! New crop arrivals increased from regions

Tomatos Rate are now under control due to increase in supply from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh state. Expensive tomatoes have created a big issue across the country. However, it is now expected that tomato prices will gradually come under control. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said tomato prices are expected to come down due to increased arrivals of the new crop from Maharashtra’s Nashik, Narayangaon and Aurangabad belts and also from Madhya Pradesh.

Minister said that retail prices of tomatoes are expected to decline with higher supplies of the new crop. Retail prices have touched Rs 200-250 per kg in many parts of the country due to supply chain disruptions, due to monsoon rains and other issues. He further stated that current increase in tomato prices may encourage farmers to grow more tomato crop, which is expected to stabilize the prices in the coming months.

According to report whitefly disease, monsoon rains and flood situation affected the supplies in different regions. Due to which price of vegitable got high. Tomatoes were initially sold at a retail price of Rs 90 per kg, which has been reduced to Rs 80 per kg from July 16 and Rs 70 per kg from July 20. Till July 18, a total of 391 tonnes of tomatoes were procured for continuous retail disposal in major consumption centers for the benefit of the consumers.

Recently on social media some of the users shared an video alleged that some of the Agents and Middlemen are hoarding tomatos, to create artificial shortage to sell at high rates. According to viral video post agents are buying tomatos directly from the farmers at very low rates.
