Unlock 4 : Delhi Metro can start from 7 September, Stations in Red Zones will be closed

New Delhi – Ministry of Home Affairs has released the guidelines for Unlock-4. Under this, permission has now been given to run the metro. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot on Sunday said that the list of metro stations where travel services are being restored is being prepared and it will be made public soon.

There are 264 metro stations in Delhi and till Sunday there are 820 containment zones in Delhi. According to the order issued by the central government, the guideline of Unlock-4 does not apply in the Containment Zone. In such a situation, it is believed that from September 7, the metro station of the Containment Zone can be closed.

Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that metro services will be resumed in the city from September 7, with all appropriate measures to ensure adherence to safety standards, including the use of only Smart Card ticketing and deployment of civil defense volunteers.

Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that a detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) will be issued for the safe operation of metro services in the next few days after a meeting between officials of the Transport Department and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Minister Gehlot said that the list of stations at which travel services are being restored is being prepared and it will be made public soon. He said that all passengers coming to metro stations will be thermally checked and it will be mandatory to install face cover. Those who violate the rules will be fined.

Significantly, Delhi Metro services were suspended on 22 March due to Corona epidemic. The Metro has been allowed to run in the Unlock-4 guidelines. Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that at present, no tokens will be issued to passengers due to the risk of spreading the virus.

There will be a system to buy smart cards at every station and passengers will be able to travel only with smart cards. He said that digital methods will be enabled to recharge smartcards to ensure a contact-free travel experience. Hand sanitizers will be made available at every station. Wearing masks will be mandatory and passengers violating these rules will be fined by DMRC and security officials. According to the new guidelines, air condition will be operated in coaches so that fresh air flow in the train will be maintained.
