New Delhi – IMD has predicted heavy, moderate and light rains in many states on 23 July. In most states of the country, the period of rain continues for the last three days. The weather patterns have changed due to continuous rains in most of the states of North India including Delhi. Rain has not only brought relief from the humid heat, but a slight cold is also felt. According to the Meteorological Department, similar weather is expected for the next 2-3 days.
According to the IMD, heavy rains may occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri and Nainital districts. The Meteorological Department has also issued an Orange Alert in many districts of Uttarakhand.
According to weather forecast agency Skymet, the Monsoon trough is extending to the foothills of Himalayas via Amritsar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur.
In West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, there is a possibility of heavy rains with light to moderate rainfall.
East Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Lakshadweep may also receive heavy to very heavy rainfall with light to moderate monsoon showers.
Whereas Delhi, South Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Marathwada, Vidarbha and northern parts of Telangana are expected to receive light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells.
