Lenovo introduced its Smart Clock Essential in India in February this year. This is a digital clock that comes with in-built Google Assistant. We have spent some time with it and now we are going to tell you its review. The price of this smart clock has been kept at Rs 4,499 in India.

Design, Build Quality and Features:

The shape of this smart clock from Lenovo is like a siren in vehicles. Its front has a 4-inch LED black and white alphanumeric display. This display shows day, time and temperature. Also, when the alarm is set, the alarm icon is also displayed. The special thing is that when the light is turned off, the intensity of the display decreases.

Except for the back and front, the rest of its body has been given premium gray mesh fabric. Also, there is a button at the top to set volume up / down, play / pause and alarm. Along with this, a USB port in the back, night lamp and a physical button to turn off the microphone of Google Assistant has been given. Apart from all this, it also has a 1.5-inch 3W speaker.

This smart clock is quite premium in appearance. However, this is not battery operated, so you will always have to rely on electricity for this and a socket will be needed at one place. Also WiFi will also be needed. Talking about the overall features, it has been given night lamp, digital clock, extra port for charging other devices, speaker and Google Assistant. That is, it is feature packed.

Performance:

This smart clock can be paired through the Google Home app. Pairing is quite easy. Talking about the display, time and temperature are quite bold shows in it. In this way, they can be seen even from a distance. An alarm can also be set in this. For this, you can use both voice commands and physical buttons. However, one problem is that the sound output of the alarm is low. In such a situation, if the device is not nearby or there is noise in the room, then you may not hear it.

Since, it comes with Google Assistant. In this case, you can listen to songs and podcasts etc. by giving ‘Ok Google’ command from it. Google ‘Who is the Prime Minister of India?’ Like many questions can be asked. You can also listen to the news as well. However, you will get the news in English only. But, the good thing is that you can also talk to the assistant in Hindi and you will get the answer in Hindi only.

One problem is definitely that there is not as much variety in Amazon’s Alexa Assistant as you get. Also, it has to go a little closer to give commands. Or to give commands from afar, a very loud sound is needed even in a quiet room. Talking about audio quality, it lacks bass and it is not like a proper speaker. But, it is not bad either, you can listen to the songs comfortably and you will also be able to hear the answer of the assistant very clearly.

The good thing is that you have to turn the volume up or down or adjust the brightness of the night lamp. All these works are done by voice command only. Apart from all this, you can also control your smart home products with this.

Bottom Line:

If you want a digital watch, then you might like this device that comes with Google Assistant. You can give a smart touch to the house by keeping it at any place like the office table or bedroom of your home. It is very light and is also small in size. In this you will get night lamp, speaker for listening to songs, USB port for charging other things and facility to set alarm. However, it also has some drawbacks. In such a situation, you can also look at Amazon Alexa based speakers coming in this range as an option.
