Actor Irrfan Khan passes away at 53, Battling tumor and intestinal infection

Mumbai – Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passes away at age of 53 due to battling from tumor and intestinal infection.He died on Wednesday at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. 53-year-old Irfan had fallen in bathroom in his house. After this, he was admitted in the ICU of the hospital for a week. He had a brain tumor and his colon infection problem increased. On Saturday, his mother Saeeda Begum had died. She was 95 years old, lived in Jaipur. Irrfan could not attend his mother’s funeral due to lockdown and ill health. He gave his last farewell to the mother through a video call.

The 53-year-old actor had been battling cancer since 2018 and his official spokesperson had confirmed on Tuesday that he was under doctor’s observation. Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons – Babil and Ayan. Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar penned a condolence note remembering the actor.

Irrfan acted in films like ‘Maqbool’, ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘The Lunch Box’, ‘Piku’, ‘Talwar’ and ‘Hindi Medium’. He received the Filmfare Award for ‘Haasta’ (Negative Role), ‘Life in a Metro’ (Best Actor), ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ (Best Actor Critic) and ‘Hindi Medium’ (Best Actor). He was given the National Award for ‘Paan Singh Tomar’. He was also awarded the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest honor in the field of art.

Irrfan Khan belongs to the Nawabi family of Tonk. His childhood also passed in Tonk. His parents were residents of Tonk. Born on 7 January 1967, Irfan’s full name was Sahebzade Irfan Ali Khan. He came by chance in acting. He wanted to become a cricketer. But his father wanted him to take over the family business. However, Irfan got an opportunity to attend the National School of Drama and it was from here that his acting career began.
