80 special trains including Shatabdi, Rajdhani to start from 12 September

New Delhi – Indian Railway is going to start 80 more trains from Saturday 12 September with unlock 4.0 guideline amid Corona crisis. This week, Railways has decided to run 80 new special trains from September 12 for wich reservation has started from 10 September. These 40 pairs i.e. 80 special trains have been run in addition to the already running 230 trains.

Trains will be run according to the demand and requirement of the states. The 80 new trains include several passenger trains including Shatabdi express, humsafar express and AC Superfast train.

Railway Board President Vinod Kumar Yadav said that they will monitor the operation of special trains, ‘Clone’ trains will be run wherever there is a demand for the train or there is a long waiting list. Vinod Yadav said that trains will be operated for the examinations or for any such purpose as requested by the state governments.

The railways had suspended the operations of the trains since the nationwide lockdown on 25 March. The railways later ran a labor special train for stranded workers, devotees, students and tourists from May 1 onwards. Railways started operating 15 pairs of special air-condition trains from May 12 and 100 pairs of time-table trains from June 1.
