Fact Check: Did a creepy creature fall from the sky in Bihar? Know the truth of this viral video

A video is becoming fiercely viral on social media, in which it is being told that “a creepy creature fell from the sky in Darbhanga, Bihar, which NASA has described as a sign of danger.” This viral video of about 4 minutes is a clip of a YouTube channel named KBC which is being widely posted on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and YouTube. More than 4 lakh people have seen this video so far.

Seeing the pictures of this creature, you are also going to get goosebumps and this creepy creature has been found in Shivpur, a small village in Darbhanga district of Bihar. People say that after the cyclonic storm Yas in Darbhanga district of Bihar, this strange creature has fallen from the sky to the earth.

This creature is very strange, whose eyes are exactly like a human, while it has four legs. This creature looks like an alien.India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that the claim along with the video is completely baseless. There is no animal in this video, but a toy made of silicone. Actually this is the artwork of Italian artist Lyra Maganuco.

It is being claimed repeatedly in the viral video that this strange and creepy animal may be an alien and NASA has also seen this creature as a sign of danger. The archived version of the post can be viewed here.

While sharing the video, a Facebook user wrote, “Bihar Darbhanga’s Shivpur village with the wind and heirs fell from the sky and informed the administration after seeing the villagers, the NASA team was called and it was found that this creature is an alien. I was seen in a wounded position. God gave a different sign for the future. O my God.”

How to know the truth?

To know the truth of the video, we first contacted Darbhanga District Magistrate Mr. Thiagarajan SM. He told that this video is in his cognizance but he denied any such incident in Darbhanga.

For further investigation, we searched through some keywords and found pictures of the animal seen in the viral video on several news websites, with different and bizarre claims made. According to these reports, there are rumors of seeing this animal in many places.

We found a report published on 10 September 2020 on India Today Group’s website ‘The Lallantop’ which is about this ‘creepy animal’. According to this report, these pictures are not of any animal but it is a silicone artwork, made by Italian artist Lyra Maganuco.

Through this article, we reached Lyra Maganuco’s Facebook page where we found a picture of this alleged animal which she posted on 3 October 2018. Some videos of this were also found on his Facebook. Lyra Maganuco has told about this that this is a silicone artwork of a hybrid version of an animal named Armadillo. Many such pictures of silicone artwork have also been shared on Lyra Maganuco’s Instagram page.

We also found Lyra Maganuco’s profile on Etsy (etsy.com), a US-based artwork website. According to the information given here, Lyra hails from the city of Pavia, Italy. They make and sell such silicone artwork. The price of the Armadillo artwork seen in the viral picture is US $ 8306.64 i.e. 6,05,119.20 Indian rupees. Lyra’s artwork on this website has been told that it is an animal-like toy made from acetic silicone paste, which looks very real in appearance.

It is clear from the investigation that the talk of seeing aliens in a village of Darbhanga is absolutely nonsense. The creepy animal and alien being described in the video is not an animal but a silicone artwork.
